At last night’s NH (06Mar2017) council meeting councillor Yolanda Ritsema-Teeninga was thoroughly humiliated when she asked a question and was met with roaring laughter by council and staff. Yolanda did try to save face, and stated that her constituents wanted to know the answer to her simple and concise question. Council has a long history of oppression when it comes to those that question or offer scrutiny. Don’t forget last August when Vincent arrested Press and Public members for fear of having to answer a question on camera after the meeting. And they say Donald Trump is oppressive!
Council and staff give great latitude to Councillor Trevor Seip when he attempts to ask a question, which always seems like a male version of Sarah Palin. It normally takes Trevor several minutes to get even the most simplest question or comment out. Some think he gets paid by the word, while most others think that the two weeks between council meetings isn’t enough time for Trevor to formulate a coherent thought or question.
Council should be commended for allowing Trevor to ramble on as he tries his hardest to articulate a thought, as those of all intellectual levels should be encouraged to participate in society at some level, even Trevor.
