$50,000 Drug Bust

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – A traffic stop on Highway 144, Hassard Township has led to three people being charged.

On May 4, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., members of the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigation, the OPP seized a suspected amount of crack cocaine, fentanyl, marihuana and khat leaves with an estimated street value of $50,000. Also seized was a loaded Glock 9mm magazine.

Frederick JAHREL, 32 years-old, of North York was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order

Valarie LYNN, 31 years-old, of Mississauga was arrested and charged with following:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both accused remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 17-year-old person of Scarborough who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was also arrested, and charged with the following:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
  • Person under 19 years – possess cannabis

The accused was released at a bail hearing.
