Over 80 and 70 Over

(Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh, ON) While doing radar patrol on Bluewater Highway in ACW on May 16 shortly before 7:00 pm, a Huron OPP officer observed a black BMW travelling at well above the posted speed limit of 80 kph. The vehicle speed was confirmed by the radar unit to be 150 kph. While speaking with the driver after a traffic stop was initiated, the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. As a result of the new findings, the officer made a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied but failed the

test. He was arrested for Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and taken to the Huron Detachment where he provided two more samples of his breath to a qualified Breathalyzer Technician. The results confirmed that the driver was over the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol when he was speeding up the highway at 150 kph.

As a result of this disturbing traffic stop, Daniel Bigec (23) of Sarnia has been charged with Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and he has been charged with Street Racing. He is scheduled to return to Goderich Court on July 6, 2009 to answer to his charges. His vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his licence has been suspended for 90 days plus 7 days for the two offences. LP09116872
