1st Over 80 for the Long Weekend

A motorcycle was stopped by a Huron OPP officer on May 15, 2009 at approximately 1:00 pm for speeding. The vehicle was being operated on Huron Road. After speaking with the driver, the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol and subsequently made a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied but the result was a fail. The driver was arrested for Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and a search, incident to arrest, revealed that the driver was also in possession of suspected cannabis marihuana. He was taken to the Huron Detachment where he met with a qualified Breathalyzer Technician to provide two more samples of his breath. The results of the tests confirmed that the male was driving with a blood alcohol level that exceeded the limit allowed by law.

As a result of the investigation, James Rotteau (53) of South Huron has been charged with one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cannabis Marihuana. He will answer to his charges in Goderich Court on July 13, 2009. LP09115158
