North Huron Political Crisis: Deputy Mayor David Riach Does Not Resign – Volunteers For Several Hours Of Community Service Instead

At last night’s council meeting, Councillor Brock Vodden continued his fight to get a secretary for the Blyth Community Centre Board. Councillor Vodden read a statement that outlined the reason for the request, and mentioned the vast number of organizations that use the community centre.

This motion was seconded for discussion purposes. Deputy David Riach stated that he had been thinking about this issue over the weekend, and volunteered to fill the position until such a time that a suitable replacement could be found. The board meets 3 times a year, for an hour or two each time.

WFP would like to applaud Councillor Brock Vodden for continuing his fight for his constituents, despite the rude reaction he received at the last meeting. This further proves that public dialogue can bring about solutions to our problems.

David Riach did not resign or offer a public apology to Bill Knott at last night’s meeting.
