Barrie Police Traffic Unit conducted a 6 hour RIDE program this evening . Seven Barrie Police officers accompanied by 4 auxillary officers as well as volunteers from MADD were involved in tonight’s program.
There was a total of 580 vehicle stops performed, 35 road side tests were performed, 2 arrests were made for Liquor Licence Act related charges and 1 Highway Traffic ticket issued. There were 5 people arrested and charged with Impaired Operation/Over 80mgs, 2 criminal charges were laid under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. Five 90 day licence suspensions were issued and 2 three day suspensions were issued.
Public need to be reminded to ensure that use alternative options if they plan to consume alcohol. Suggestions would be have a designated driver, or call a cab or abstain from drinking altogether.
