23 Year Old Drunk Driver Charged

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On January 3rd, 2016, at approximately 1205am officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol when they received information regarding a possible impaired driver.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later and after an investigation the officers determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Chantal JOUAN, 23, of Quinte West has been charged with:

Driving While ability Impaired by Alcohol, Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Care and Control Over 80mgs, Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

The female was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Belleville on January 14th, 2016.

Three Charged In Brutal Huntsville Beatings

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On January 3, 2016, just after 3:30am Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was made aware of an assault that had taken place at a residence on Princess St. in the town of Huntsville, ON.

Two people sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital by Muskoka EMS. One has since been released and the other still remains with non-life threatening injuries.

The responding officers located and arrested four males in the area of the residence.

As a result of the initial investigation Jesse HICKEY (21yrs) Bruce INWOOD (20yrs) and Cameron SIMPSON (20yrs) all of Huntsville have since been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon. All three are being held for a bail hearing and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on January 4, 2016 to answer to their charges.

The investigation is continuing by the Muskoka Crime Unit with the assistance of Central Region Forensic Unit.

The Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area of Princess St later last evening. Anyone with any information can contact Huntsville OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Dylan BINGUIS – Break And Enter, Breach, Theft, Etc

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol on December 25, 2015 conducted a traffic stop on a Snowmobile travelling at a high rate of speed near 7th avenue. On further investigation police determined the Snowmobile had been recently stolen from another address in Sioux Lookout.

The operator of the Snowmobile was identified as a Dylan BINGUIS, a 23 year old male from Sioux Lookout. He has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

1 x of Break and Enter

1 x of Theft of Motor Vehicle

1 x of Breach of Probation

1 x of Possession of Stolen Property obtained by crime

2 x of Mischief under $5,000

He has also been charged under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act with the following offences:

1 x Fail to Wear Helmet

1 x Operate Motorized Snow Vehicle while suspended

Dylan BINGUIS was held for bail and is still in custody. His next scheduled court date is January 5, 2016 in Sioux Lookout.

Repeat Offender James WARNER Wanted By Police

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) On December 22, 2015 Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle at a local hotel. Police located a stolen red 2007 Peterbuilt Transport truck from Brantford, ON with an altered VIN number. The suspect fled the area but was identified as part of the police investigation.

Sioux Lookout OPP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating James WARNER. A warrant has been issued for his arrest to answer to the charge Possession of Stolen Property as well as 3 counts of Failing to Comply with his Probation Order.

James WARNER is described as a 39 year old male, 5’11” (180 cm) 240 lbs (110 kg), with blue eyes, brown hair and possibly a goatee. He is originally from Guelph, ON and may have ties to other southern Ontario locations.

Police Investigating Suspicious Death Of Dundalk Man

(MULMUR, ON) – On Friday January 1, 2016 at 7:15 pm, officers from Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious death at a residence located on Dufferin County Road 21 in Mulmur Township.

Upon arrival of the police, a male, who was initially attended to by Dufferin EMS was found deceased.

The deceased male has been identified as 43-year old Gordon JOSIE of Dundalk, Ontario and next of kin notifications are complete.

The OPP investigation into this death is being conducted under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Hagerman and Detective Staff Sergeant Rob Lake of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with assistance from Caledon-Dufferin Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit. (FISU). At this time, no public safety concerns have been identified.

61 Year Old Faces 2 Counts Of Attempt Murder

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TWP, ON) –On December 31, 2015 at 9:55pm the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident where two people sustained serious injuries at a residence on County Road 2 west of Grafton, Ontario.

Two persons from that residence were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital and have subsequently been transferred to a Toronto area trauma centre.

Responding officers located and arrested a male outside of the residence.

No other suspects are being sought.

Daniel Stewart GRANT age 61 of no fixed address is charged with two counts of attempt murder and is being held for a Bail Hearing.

The investigation is continuing by the Northumberland Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Gilles Depratto of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance from anyone who may have witnessed a pedestrian or any suspicious activity in the area of County Road 2 and Brookside Road last night. Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumberland OPP at 905-372-5421 or toll free 1-888-310-1122.

John BULPIT – Drunk Driving

(Madoc Twp, ON) – On December 30, 2015 at 6:55 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a two vehicle collision in Madoc. A vehicle travelling eastbound on St. Lawrence Street E failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a vehicle travelling on Pitts Landing Road.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the eastbound vehicle 43 year old John BULPIT of Madoc, ON was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol and Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood. He received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. He will appear in Ontario Court of Justice – Belleville on January 21, 2016.

Charges Laid In Armed Robbery

UPDATE: On the 30th of December, 2015, Almaguin Highlands OPP uniform and crime members arrested and charged a male in connection with this incident.

Dylan ARMSTRONG, 35, of Burk’s Falls, Ontario is charged with Robbery with a Weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Also charged on December 31st, 2015 is Jason McDONALD, 40, of Burk’s Falls. Mr. McDONALD was already in custody on other matters. Both men are awaiting bail hearings.

The Almaguin Highlands O.P.P. continues to seek information from the public in regards to this incident.

OPP INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

(PERRY TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) including their Criminal Investigation Unit is currently investigating a robbery that occurred on Wednesday September 30, 2015 shortly after 1:00 p.m. at the Kawartha Credit Union in Emsdale, Ontario.

Almaguin Highlands officers with the assistance of North East Region Emergency Response Units, Canine and Forensic Identification Services are continuing to investigate.

Angela GEIGER – Drunk Driving

(EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 30, 2015, members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) campaign on Village Road in East Ferris Township.

Ten minutes after the officers began the RIDE program, a vehicle drove up, and it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Angela GEIGER, 47 years of age, of East Ferris Township, has been charged with Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol in her blood contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The driver was released on a Promise to Appear to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 12, 2016. She was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Impaired driving continues to be a problem in our area. The North Bay OPP has arrested and charged 5 drivers for drinking and driving offences so far in the month of December. Officers will continue conducting RIDE checks at all hours of the day.

Rhino Stolen

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On December 30, 2015 Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a theft of an ATV/motor vehicle from a rural property located on the Eighth Line in the Town of Erin.

The red and black 2009 Yamaha Rhino was stolen sometime between December 27, 2015 and December 30.
