RIDE Leads To Charges

(SUDBURY, ON)- On October 24, 2016, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Highway 144, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

At approximately 10:37 pm, officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program. It was found the vehicle was being operated with an expired validation sticker.

The driver, Tanner POIRIER, 21 years of age from Lively, was arrested and charged with the following:

Use plate not authorized for vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act

Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, contrary to section 11(2) of the Highway Traffic Act

Drive motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Operate motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on November 21, 2016, to answer to his charges.
