Half Naked Man Arrested After Attempted Robbery – Name Released

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On October 20, 2016, at approximately 3:59 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an incident involving a male at a commercial business on Westchester Bourne. The male entered the store wearing only a hoodie, and attempted to steal merchandise.

Officers located the suspect, a 47-year-old male, occupying the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle (a green Chevrolet car) in the parking lot. The male was exhibiting signs of impairment, and a quantity of drug paraphernalia was observed in the vehicle. He also had stolen medications and identification in his possession.

The male was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for a standardized field sobriety test (SFST) with a drug recognition expert (DRE) officer.

As a result of the police investigation, Robert BEATTEAY, from London, Ontario, has been charged with indecent act – public place, care or control while impaired (drug), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remains in custody, and will be answering to the charges in the London courts.
