James WHITTINGTON – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On October 22, 2016, at approximately 2:09 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic driver travelling westbound on Highway 401, near Dorchester Road.

Officers conducted a traffic stop of the motor vehicle (a red GMC pickup truck) and determined that the 34-year-old male driver had been drinking alcohol, and was in possession of a controlled substance.

A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. He was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, James WHITTINGTON, from Kincardine, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was further charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – under 30 grams.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charge in a London court on November 25, 2016.
