At the last police service board meeting (18April2017) it was disclosed that it was current Chief Tim Poole that unilaterally imposed the media blackout that has been in place since the August Atrocities of 2016. This clearly was to punish WFP supporters for standing up for their Constitutional Rights at the 22Aug2016 council meeting, as police PRs was one our first battles.
Chief Poole’s decision not to inform the Public about crime is tantamount to dereliction of duty and has let the criminal element thrive in anonymity in Wingham. The Chief’s refusal to do his full job can either be attributed to complete laziness, apathy or the pettiness of man so vile he would risk community safety to punish a few people that stood for their rights. The Wingham police respond to one call per shift on average, so it would take the Chief only a few moments a day to keep the Public informed and safer.
If the Chief continues to refuse to inform the Public, WFP will be filing daily Freedom Of Information requests to force Chief Poole to release this critical information starting next week.
Everyone knows that the key to crime prevention is awareness. Real police forces use crime maps, press releases and social media to keep the Public informed. This informs the Public so they can take precautions if there have been break-ins locally etc. Naming of drunk drivers is an excellent reminder to everyone else to not drink and drive.
