(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 116 calls for service. Police respond to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.
There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, theft complaints, mischief complaints, alarms and animal complaints.
On Saturday September 14, 2013 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Orillia OPP responded to an assault complaint at the corner of Front Street South and Elgin Street in Orillia.
Officers arrived at scene and spoke with the male victim. The victim advised that he had a verbal altercation with the driver of another vehicle and that when he stopped at the intersection the other diver came over to his vehicle and punched him in the head. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and drove away. Investigation led police to arrest a male in relation to the assault.
Kenneth STEADMAN, 49 years old of Orillia, has been charged with assault. He had a bail hearing today and was released with a future court date of October 8, 2013 in Orillia.
On September 15, 2013 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Orillia OPP received information of a stolen vehicle. Through investigation the vehicle was located on Hwy 400 in Barrie. After a short pursuit the suspect vehicle was stopped near Mapleview Drive in Barrie. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
Jordan DENNIS, 26 years old of Scarborough, has been charged with the following offences:

Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
Flight from police officer
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Orillia on September 17, 2013.
