(PEMBROKE, ON) During the week of the 22nd of June to the 28th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 294 incidents including mischief, thefts, domestic disputes, and motor vehicle collisions.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
During the week of the 22nd of June to the 28th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 28 motor vehicle collisions. 25 collisions were property damage collisions and 3 were personal injury collisions.
RIDE
During the week of the 22nd of June to the 28th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 14 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.
Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle Over 80mg
On June 24th police attended the Walmart parking lot in Laurentian Valley Township after receiving a complaint of a suspicious female in a parked car. Police located the female and the investigation revealed she had been consuming alcohol and was on conditions not to consume alcohol. As a result 46 year old Sheryl Lyn BROOKS of Whitewater Region Township is charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
· Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle Over 80mgs
· Fail to Comply with Undertaking
· Fail or Refuse to Provide Breath Sample
BROOKS was held for a bail hearing.
Mischief
On June 22nd the Petawawa Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Barron Canyon Road in the Town of Petawawa. While the firefighters were engaged in fire suppression a man, who was not a firefighter, took it upon himself to move the fire truck which was impeding his own vehicle’s progress. As a result Robert Joseph GIRARD, age 29 of Petawawa, has been charged with one count of Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code. GIRARD was released on promise to appear and is scheduled to attend court on August 4th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Shoplifting
On June 26th police were called the Shoppers Drug Mart store in the City of Pembroke due to an incident of shoplifting at the store on June 25th. On June 25th a female entered the store and stole a quantity of cosmetics. The theft was reported to police on June 26th and as a result a female suspect has been identified. The investigation is continuing.
Theft
On June 18th police received a report of a bench being stolen. Sometime between June 17th and June 18th a wooden bench with brown cast iron ends was stolen from the yard of a residence in North Algona-Wilberforce Township. There are no suspects at this time.
On June 23rd police responded to a report of theft in the City of Pembroke. Sometime overnight between June 22nd and June 23rd a pump container, spray hose and hose reel were stolen from the bed of a pickup truck while it was parked in the west end of the city. The investigation is continuing.
Sometime between June 24th and June 26th a 2005 9.9hp Mercury outboard motor was stolen from outside a residence in Laurentian Valley Township. The investigation is continuing.
On June 27th police received a report of an overnight theft of a GPS unit and loose change from an unlocked vehicle that was parked at a residence in Laurentian Valley Township. There are no suspects.
On June 28th police received a report of an overnight theft of jewelry, sunglasses, headphones and a laptop computer from two unlocked vehicles parked at a residence in the City of Pembroke. There are no suspects at this time.
Domestic Disputes
During the week of the 22nd of June to the 28th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment investigated 15 domestic disputes. As a result,
· One adult female was charged with Assault and Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
· One adult male was charged with Assault and Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
