UPDATE: OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION – DECEASED IDENTIFIED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a fatal motor vehicle collision at a Simcoe Street, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Friday, March 7, 2014 at approximately 11:55 a.m., the Norfolk County OPP and Norfolk County Paramedics were dispatched to the Norfolk Mall in the parking lot of the Zehrs Market directly in front of the store.

Through investigation it has been determined that a 2012 green Ford Focus being operated by 79 year old Patricia SOUL of Oxford County, Ontario was in the process of travelling westbound in the parking lot when a pedestrian that was walking southbound through the parking lot collided.

76 year old Alies VANRYCKEGHEM of Norfolk County, Ontario was transported to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased by the attending physician.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators assisted with the investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
