(KAPUSKASING, ON) – Following a six week ongoing investigation, the James Bay Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested a male in relation to an assault with a weapon on August 9, 2014.
On the evening of September 22, 2014, OPP officers from the Kapuskasing and Hearst OPP Detachments executed a warrant at a Constance Lake First Nations residence on Nabakhabo Street and arrested Thomas SUTHERLAND, 24 years old, of Kapuskasing, Ontario.
As a result of the investigation, he has been charged contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada with:
two counts of Assault with a Weapon;
two counts of Assault Causing Bodily Harm;
one count of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose;
one count of Mischief Under $5,000;
one count of Assault Peace Officer; and
three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on September 24, 2014.
