(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are again cautioning residents to lock their doors, even when they are home.
During the month of June, North Middlesex, Ontario, has experienced three break, enters, and thefts from residences while the occupants were home. Two incidents occurred during the day – one while the occupant was in the rear yard, and a second while the occupant was in or around the home (the exact time could not be determined). The third incident occurred over night while the occupants slept.
In each incident, small and portable valuables were stolen.
It is unknown whether one or more suspects are involved in these occurrences, which the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate.
A reminder that the Middlesex County OPP, in partnership with specially trained volunteer members of the Middlesex County OPP Auxiliary, offer a Safeguard Ontario Property Security Program. The residential audit reviews many features and provides basic suggestions included in the target hardening process of properties, to safeguard your home against opportunistic criminals.
Operation Identification is a property marking program designed to help discourage the theft of valuables by facilitating the identification of stolen property. The idea is to engrave your valuables with an identifying number in a highly visible spot. A special electronic property engraver is available for loan “free of charge” following each Safeguard Ontario Property Security Review.
Do not leave your residence insecure, or less than secure, even when you are home.
Anyone with information regarding these investigations is encouraged to contact their local police. The OPP can be reached anytime, anywhere in the Province of Ontario, at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
