Snowmobile And Operator Fall Through Ice

(SUNDRIDGE, ON) – On Thursday January 21, 2016 at approximately 8:00 a.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Parry Sound Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Sundridge/Strong Fire Department responded to a male that had fallen through the ice on Lake Bernard on his snowmobile.

The driver a 30 year old Man from Woodbridge Ontario was approximately 1000 feet from shore when his snow machine went through the ice. The driver managed to pull himself out of the lake on his own and did not require medical assistance.

OPP would like to remind people that when travelling on lakes and waterways that the user is responsible to check ice conditions themselves or with other experienced local users. Always let someone know the route you are travelling and be prepared with emergency equipment.
