Schools Go Into Lockdown During Two Separate Incidents

(Clarence Rockland, Ontario) – In the morning of January 21, 2016, the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident of threats to cause bodily harm with a weapon at a Rockland High School. During the investigation, the school commenced their lock down procedures. As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male was arrested. Charges are pending.

Later in the afternoon, on January 21, 2016, the Russell County OPP Detachment received a report of a male walking on Giroux Street in the City of Rockland, caring a firearm. Local schools were notified and they implement their School Safety protocols as a precaution. As a result of the investigation a second 17-year-old male was arrested. Charges are pending.

The incidents are unrelated. The names of the accused are not being released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The investigation is continuing.
