(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week. Here are some examples:
Jan 18:
Police were called to a Brighton home by the parent of child refusing to go to school. Officers provided parenting advice to the family.
Officers assisted Campbellford Memorial Hospital by transporting an uncooperative patient to another hospital to receive mental health treatment
Shortly after closing, police were called to a Trent Hills pharmacy for a female screaming and kicking at the front door. She was gone when officers arrived and there were no damages.
Jan 19:
A Campbellford man was arrested for breaching the conditions of his probation order by being in the company of a person he was not allowed to associate with. That person was also charged for allowing him to contradict the court order.
Police were called to assist the Cramahe Twp Fire Dep’t when a ‘burn barrel’ ignited a small fire on the outside wall of a home. The fire caused minor damages and there were no injuries. Deemed not suspicious in nature.
A Brighton resident reported that an unknown person had created a fake profile on a dating site listing her cell phone as the main point of contact. After receiving several inappropriate messages she contacted police. The profile has since been deleted and the investigation is ongoing
Jan 20:
Owner reported hunters trespassing on her property located on the 7th Line of Alnwick-Haldimand Twp.
Officers assisted a Campbellford man suffering a mental health crisis. He was taken to a hospital where he received treatment.
A Seymour Twp man was arrested for breaching the conditions of a release related to a domestic assault charge earlier in the month. He was held for a bail hearing
Jan 21: (to 4:00pm)
A resident on Lake St in Hamilton Twp reported the theft of a wallet and GPS from his unlocked car which was parked in his driveway overnight. Police would like to remind the public to lock their vehicles when unattended and remove any valuables
A Cramahe Twp resident attended the Cobourg detachment distraught over the recent death of a family member. She was connected to an agency for counselling by the officer.
A senior in her 80’s accidentally dialed 911on her cell phone from Campbellford Memorial Hospital when attempting to contact a friend. Officers ensured her safety and that there was no emergency
Northumberland OPP officers also investigated three accidental 911 calls, 18 motor vehicle collisions and 13 traffic related complaints.
