(ARMOUR TWP) On Sunday September 1, 2013 at approximately 2:45am officers from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police Detachment were patrolling Highway 11 when they observed an all-terrain vehicle in the south ditch at the off ramp into the south entrance to Burk’s Falls, Ontario. The all-terrain vehicle along with some personal items, were damaged when it struck a ministry of transportation sign. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene and police began looking for him. Eventually the driver and a passenger were located by police. During the police investigation it was discovered that the 2000 green Polaris 500 sportsman all-terrain vehicle had been reported stolen earlier.
Police charged Shannon ROBINSON with possession over 30grams of marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Robinson was held for a bail hearing on Tuesday September 3, 2013 in Parry Sound Court. There is a second male that is being investigated by police and charges are pending.
Police are continuing to investigate.
