(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at approximately 8:49 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as well as Shuniah Fire Department and ambulance responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah.
The driver of a tractor trailer unit (B train, double trailer) was east bound on Highway 11/17, when the driver lost control resulting in the tractor rolling over onto its side and remaining on the highway. The front trailer rolled over onto the gravel portion of the highway and the rear trailer rolled over and entered the ditch.
The driver and passenger were transported to hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
Currently, Highway 11/17 is open to one lane of east bound traffic.
