(Georgian Bay Township, On)- A member of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with another marine patrol officer from the OPP Central Region SAVE Team where on patrol of the waters of Six Mile Lake in Georgian Bay Township during the daylight hours of Sunday September 1, 2013.
The officers were surprised by locating and charging 7 boaters with liquor violations under the Liquor Licence Act and 1 boater with possession of drugs under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act during their patrol of the lake.
2 other vessel operators were charged with offences relating to vessel operator competencey and 1 operator was charged for towing a series of inflatable tubes behind his vessel without room onboard for the people being towed.
OPP Marine Officers would like to remind boaters that Drinking and Driving is Drinking and Driving” and alcohol has no place on the waterways.
