OPP CHARGE OPERATOR OF E-BIKE WITH REFUSE BREATH SAMPLE

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On June 28, 2014 at approximately 9:26 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were patrolling on Silvercreek Parkway near Willow Road in the City of Guelph when they observed an E-Bike travelling northbound without any lights on.

Police stopped the bike and upon speaking with the male driver, discovered that he had been drinking. He was administered a Roadside Screening Device test which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to the Fergus OPP Detachment for further testing and he subsequently refused to provide a breath sample.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle impounded for seven days.

Stephan PICHE aged 26 of Guelph has been charged with Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 12, 2014 to answer to the charge.
