(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Marine and Trails Unit (MTU) received a complaint of a missing swimmer on Saturday July 5, 2014 shortly after 9:00 pm near Bigelow Island on Lake of the Woods.
The male was last observed swimming nearby a cottage and dove into the water. The male did not re-surface and the police were called.
On Sunday July 6, 2014 shortly after 5:00pm, OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Unit (USRU) recovered the deceased within the vicinity of where he was last observed.
The male has been identified as Christopher SILMAN, age 29 from Winnipeg Manitoba.
A post mortem is scheduled for Monday July 7, 2014.
