Marcel HOFFERT – Break And Enter

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FISU) and the Kenora OPP Street Crime Unit have charged a 51 year old Kenora man following an ongoing investigation into a break and enter.

Police were notified on Sunday December 27, 2015 shortly after 6:30 am that employees of a Highway 17 (east) hotel had discovered a break in and a significant amount of cash had been stolen from the business. It was determined that around 9:30 pm on December 26, 2015 a male suspect forced entry into an office in the hotel. The suspect proceeded to steal Canadian and American currency in both bills and rolled coins.

On Wednesday January 7, 2016 the investigation resulted in the arrest of a male suspect. A search warrant was executed at a north end residence in the City of Kenora.

As a result of this investigation, 51 year old Marcel HOFFERT of Kenora has been charged with Break and Enter contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. He is to appear in Kenora Court on February 11, 2016 to answer to the charge.
