Man Charged After Dogs Left In Hot Vehicle

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment want to remind all pet owners to never leave your pet unattended in a hot motor vehicle.

On Sunday, July 30, 2017 at approximately 4:22 p.m., police were contacted by concerned members of the public after they observed two (2) dogs inside a motor vehicle located in the Walmart parking lot of Simcoe, Ontario.

Officers attended the area and subsequently located the vehicle.

As a result of investigation, police charged 71-year-old Franklin GIBBONS of South Hampton, Ontario with leave animal unattended in a motor vehicle, contrary to Norfolk County Care and Control of Animals By-Law 2014-46.

He was subsequently issued a Provincial Offences Notice.

If you see an animal in a vehicle on a warm or humid day who you believe may be in distress
