At around 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday August 1 st a uniformed officer was on routine patrol in the area of 10 th Street and 7 th Avenue West in the city of Owen Sound. The officer’s attention was drawn to a vehicle with an expired licence plate validation. A further check of the plate revealed that the owner was a prohibited driver. The officer followed the vehicle to an Alpha Street parking lot to further investigate the driver. The male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the bush area. Police pursued the male on foot and apprehended him.
As a result of this incident a 36 year old male from Ayton is being held in custody, awaiting a Tuesday morning bail hearing to answer to criminal charges of driving while prohibited, breach of probation (two counts) as well as numerous Highway Traffic Act offences.
