(Hiawatha First Nations) – On Saturday, December 28, 2013 at approximately 1020 p.m. officers from the Peterborough County OPP Detachment were called to a Hiawatha Line residence in Hiawatha First Nations in response to a report of a male being stabbed.
Upon arriving officers were advised that an argument had occurred at the residence between 38 year old male resident of Hiawatha First Nations, and 19 year old Cody LAGUE of Bewdley. The verbal argument quickly became volatile, and the two males became involved in a physical fight in the residence. At some point in the fight the 38 year old male was stabbed in the chest with a knife. Other residents at the scene called 911 and police and emergency personal attended.
An initial investigation was conducted and as a result, the accused Cody LAGUE was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Paramedics responded to the scene, and treated the victim, who was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for emergency medical treatment. The victim remains in serious but stable condition
Members of the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit have been called in to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The LAGUE was held in custody with a future court date scheduled for December 30, 2013 in Peterborough Provincial Courts.
