During the week of 14 December 2015 to the 20 December 2015, there were 88 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.
There were nine motor vehicle collisions, three were animal related. Police remind motorists to drive with caution, be aware of your surroundings, and watch for deer and wild animals.
There was one domestic dispute call for service during the week of 14 December 2015 20 December 2015. There were no criminal charges laid.
As winter weather approaches, the OPP are advising motorists to adjust their driving habits to the road and weather conditions to ensure safe travelling on our roadways this holiday season. Motorists are reminded to drive the posted speed limit and to decrease speeds when roads become snow covered. Give yourself time and distance to safely stop your motor vehicle to avoid a collision.
OPP Investigate Collisions
Between the 14 December 2015 and the 19 December 2015, members of the Killaloe OPP Detachment were busy with several collisions in the Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. Police report minor injuries involved.
Killaloe OPP Festive RIDE
The Killaloe OPP Detachment reports indicate a total of 80 Festive RIDE spot checks have been conducted throughout the detachment area. To date, the Killaloe OPP report no arrests for impaired driving related to RIDE spot checks. The Killaloe OPP will continue to focus on our highways to ensure a safe holiday season.
Cash Box Theft
On the 18 December 2015 at 7:43 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet investigated a theft involving a cash box in Bonnechere Valley Twp. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crimestoppers.
OPP Conduct Commercial Vehicle Inspections
If you are a commercial vehicle operator, chances are you have been stopped by Whitney OPP Constable Brent Darraugh. Constable Darraugh has received specialized training in the area of Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections and has been conducting several of these inspections in the Madawaska Valley Twp. area. Constable Darraugh has laid several charges under the Highway Traffic Act. Most of these charges relate directly to the overall safety of the vehicle. The operator of the commercial motor vehicle has a legal obligation to ensure that the vehicle being operated is one that is safe to drive on the highway.
