(PETROLIA, ON) – On Sunday December 20, 2015 at approximately 2:16 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a single vehicle, motor vehicle collision, on Bethal Road near Birnam Line, Warwick Township.
Lambton OPP responded to the scene as well as Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Warwick Fire Department. Upon arrival officers spoke with a male party who was identified as the driver of the motor vehicle while EMS treated and transported a 21 year old male passenger to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested but then transported to hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Officers followed EMS to the hospital and while at the hospital, the driver underwent breath testing which resulted in readings above the legal limit.
As a result, 21 year-old, Marc CARRIERE of Innisfil, ON was charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired – Cause Bodily Harm
Exceed 80 mgs Blood Alcohol Content – Cause Bodily Harm
Youth Driver – B.A.C. Over Zero
Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday January 11, 2016.
