During the week of the 16 February 2016, to the 21 February 2016, there were 90 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.
There were sixteen motor vehicle collisions, seven were animal related.
There were five domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 16 February 2016, to the 21 February 2016. There were two domestic related incidents involving criminal code charges.
Break and Enter to Local Business
On the 16 February 2016 approximately 10:16 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Kyle Fabian investigated a reported break and enter to Summers Motors, on #60 Hwy in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. The front door had been kicked in and the business ransacked. A green Ford F250 was stolen, and later recovered by the Ottawa Police Service. The OPP Scenes of Crimes Officer attended to photograph the scene and collect evidence. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crimestoppers.
Breach of Recognizance Arrest
On the 19 February 2016 at 5:32 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jason Golds attended a residence on Pine Tree Lane in Bonnechere Valley Twp. regarding a breach of recognizance incident. As a result of police investigation 54 yr. old Kimberly VANCE of Pikwakanagan First Nation was arrested for Breach of Recognizance section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
On the 21 February 2016 at approximately 3:53 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jason Golds conducted a traffic stop on Highway #41, in Bonnechere Valley Twp. Investigation revealed the driver was released on a recognizance with conditions to reside at a designated address. As a result of police investigation, 55 yr. old Donald CRAIG of Greater Madawaska Twp. was arrested for Breach of Recognizance x 3 section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused will appear in bail court on the 22 February 2016 at 9:30 a.m., Ontario Court of Justice.
Assault Charges
On the 20 February 2016 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jordan Bullis and Constable Andrew Wierzbicki attended an address on Kiwita Inamo, Pikwakanagan First Nation regarding an assault incident. As a result of police investigation 24 yr. old Shane CARON of Pikwakanagan First Nation has been charged with Assault x 2 section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada and Driving Under Suspension section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. The accused was released on a promise to appear with a court date.
On the 21 February 2016 at approximately 3:48 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre investigated an allegation of assault that occurred on Kiwita Inamo, Pikwakanagan First Nation. As a result, 25 yr. old Ryan CARLE of Pikwakanagan First Nation, has been charged with Assault section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was release on a promise to appear with a court date.
Collisions
On the 18 February 2016 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Devin Leeworthy and Constable Andrew Wierzbicki attended Simpson Pit Road, in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. regarding a single vehicle motor vehicle collision. The female driver received minor injuries. The vehicle was towed. There were no charges laid.
On the 20 February 2016 at approximately 11:34 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Devin Leeworthy and Constable Andrew Wierzbicki attended Round Lake Road, in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp., regarding a single vehicle motor vehicle collision. The ambulance attended the scene. One female driver received minor injuries. The vehicle was towed. There were no charges laid. Police are reminding motorists to decrease speeds and adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions.
On the 18 February 2016 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Whitney OPP Constable Ryan Szczygiel attended Opeongo Line in Madawaska Valley Twp. for a collision involving a school bus and a jeep. There were no reported injuries to the drivers or school bus occupants. The jeep was towed. There were no charges laid.
Stunt Driving Charge
On the 20 February 2016 at approximately 10:52 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jason Golds was conducting moving radar on Highway # 41, in Bonnechere Valley Twp. A Honda Civic was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. Charged with stunt driving is 20 yr. old Sophie FOSTER of Bonnechere Valley Twp. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the license suspended for seven days. The accused was given a summons to appear in court.
