(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On Friday November 11, 2016 at approximately 10:45 am officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 7 near Bethel Road. Following an investigation, the driver, 20 year old Alexander HOOPER of Lindsay is charged with Careless Driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the HTA.
On Friday November 11, 2016 at approximately 9:35pm an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated an investigation for a traffic violation that occurred on Kent Street West in the Town of Lindsay.
The vehicle failed to stop for police and a short suspect apprehension pursuit occurred. The vehicle travelled approximately one kilometer and was left in a residence driveway, the driver having fled the vehicle.
Through investigation, the driver, 26 year old Jason HARRISON of Lindsay has been charged with the following offences:
Flight While Pursued by a Peace Officer contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the CCC
Breach of a Recognizance contrary to section 811 of the CCC
The accused was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
