Bancroft OPP Weekly Press Release

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – The Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 70 incidents this past weekend (Friday November 11 to Sunday November 13, 2016). The calls for service varied from Alarms to Domestic Disputes to a Break and Enter, a Theft, Traffic Complaints, and Motor Vehicle Collisions.

There were a total of 10 Motor Vehicle Collisions with all of them being property damage only (no injuries sustained on Oro-Medonte Township roadways this past weekend). Of notable concern were the following collisions:

On Saturday November 12, 2016 at 6:07PM a Single Vehicle Rollover collision occurred on HWY 11 n/B at Line 11 – speed was a factor when a BMW took the ramp too fast and rolled over. This collision is still under investigation.

On Sunday November 13, 2016 at 3:15PM a Single Vehicle Rollover collision, involving a Tractor Trailer with a full load of Christmas Trees, occurred at the HWY 400 and the Penetanguishene Road overpass. The 58 year old male driver was charged with Careless Driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

In addition:

On Thursday November 10, 2016 at 11:24AM an Officer conducted a Traffic Stop on HWY 11 Southbound near Line 9 for a 2015 Honda that was travelling 52 km/hr over the posted 90 km/hr speed limit. The 65 year old female driver from Thornhill was charged with Stunt Driving Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. Her driver’s licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
