JOINT R.I.D.E. PROGRAM TO TAKE PLACE IN LAMBTON

(LAMBTON COUNTY, ON) Police officers from Lambton County will once again be conducting a large, joint, highly visible Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program at a pre-designated Lambton location. This large ride is separate from the consistently occurring local R.I.D.E. programs that are seen regularly throughout the county on a day to day basis.

Officers from the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Police, and Chatham OPP, will be taking part October 25, 2013 in this important safety effort along with volunteers from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to help educate the motoring public and to ensure awareness.

Police visibility at R.I.D.E. checks, helps to not only enforce the current drinking laws, but to also educate and influence motorists about the dangers of drinking and driving. This works toward a goal of making Lambton County roads safer for everyone.

“We will continue to work with many partners including the media, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), schools, citizens, Lambton Safe Roads Committee and other community organizations in our collective dedicated efforts to make our roads impaired driver-free and safer for all,” says the Sergeant in charge of Lambton OPP Traffic Services, Tim Ives.

Impaired driving is a serious problem throughout the Province of Ontario and OPP officers will continue to set up R.I.D.E. checkpoints daily, at various locations and times around the county as part of their dedicated efforts to make our roads the safest possible.

If you see an impaired driver please call 911, as we all have a shared responsibility in ensuring our roadways are safe.
