Impaired Driver Arrested With Drugs And Children On Board

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Late in the evening on September 11, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a motor vehicle stop of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) which was travelling on Egremont Drive.

Police determined that the 45-year-old female driver had been drinking alcohol. She was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver was charged with fail or refuse to provide sample 254(3) alcohol/blood, and driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, and further charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – under 30 grams.

She was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to appear in the London courts to answer the charges.

The accused’s name is being withheld to protect the identity of two primary-aged children who were passengers in the vehicle at the time.
