(CALEDON, ON) – On October 8th, 2014 at approximately 2:35 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a possible impaired driver that had entered a construction area on Creditview Road and was observed stopping in the middle of the roadway. A second complaint of erratic driving was received relating to the same vehicle. Members from the Community Response Unit (CRU) located the silver Dodge Caravan in a private driveway on Creditview Road. Officers located the vehicle at the top of the driveway and observed that the brake lights were activated. The officers approached the vehicle and observed the female seated behind the steering wheel of the motor vehicle in the driver’s seat in an intoxicated state.
Upon speaking with the female driver, the officer detected a very strong odour of alcohol on her breath and she displayed many other signs of impairment. As a result the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for testing.
The investigation also revealed that the driver of the silver Dodge Caravan had caused damage to two stop signs in the construction area.
In conclusion, Sandra McAuley, 47, from Caledon was arrested and charged with Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 and Dangerous Driving of a Motor Vehicle.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make her first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 23, 2014.
