(GUELPH-ERMAOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 16, 2016 at approximately 8:09 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E. Unit were conducting spot checks on Wellington Road 39 near Wellington Road 30 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. A 1996 Toyota entered the R.I.D.E. program and while officers were speaking with the driver an odour of alcohol was detected on her breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. She was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
34-year-old Elizabeth MCCABE of Fergus has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 6, 2017. Her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
