DRIVER FACES CHARGES AFTER REFUSING TO STOP FOR POLICE

(SUDBURY, ON) – On March 23, 2014 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Sudbury OPP officers received a traffic complaint regarding an eastbound vehicle on Highway 17 (Coniston area), City of Greater Sudbury.

Officers were advised that the suspect vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner and crossing the centre line. Shortly thereafter, officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it but the driver refused to stop.

The suspect continued to flee from police while reaching speeds of up to 50 km/hr for a total of 3 kilometers before coming to a stop in Wahnapitae, ON.

The female driver, Suzanne Hélène GIROUX, age 68 of Wahnapitae is charged with:

Impaired Driving

Over 80

Fail to Stop for Police

DHaving Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Liquor Readily Available

She was released from custody and will appear in Sudbury Court on April 9, 2014.
