(CALEDON, ON) – On September 19th, 2014 at approximately 11:21 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a black Honda Accord at the intersection of Kennedy Road and Charleston Side Road. The officer observed that the validation sticker had expired and initiated a traffic stop to investigate further. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and demanded the driver produce a sample of his breath. The driver registered a fail on the roadside test and he was transported to Detachment for testing.
As a result of the officer’s observations, Christopher MORRISON, 54, from Caledon was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. and is facing further charges under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated which resulted in a 90-day driver’s licence suspension. Also, the driver’s motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 9th, 2014.
