Driver and Passenger Arrested And Charged

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Thursday January 15, 2015, at approximately 11:00pm members from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35 and Clarence Road in Minden Hills Township.

During the investigation officers determined that the male driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver registered a “fail” on the approved screen device and was arrested. Officers also seized a quantity of suspected marihuana and morphine.

Creighton GRIFFIN, 24 years of age, of Algonquin Highlands has been charged with the following:

Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood contrary to the Criminal Code

Possession of a Controlled Substance– Morphine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

Possession of a Controlled Substance–Cannabis Marihuana–Under 30 Grams contrary to the CDSA

The male passenger, Walter GARRISON, 61 years of age, of Algonquin Highlands has been charged with Fail to comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code.

Both males are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden, Ontario on March 4, 2015 to answer to their charges.
