(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) –On January 16, 2015 at approximately 1:25 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to assist fire crews with traffic control at a scene of a fully engulfed barn fire on Parkhouse Drive between Thames Road and Mayfair Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.
The road in this section of Parkhouse Drive has been closed allowing Southwest Middlesex Fire and Strathroy-Caradoc Fire crews to safely extinguish the fire.
Police have learned that a large number of pigs were in the barn at the time of the fire and it is likely a number have perished as a result. Exact numbers are not available at this time. The fire is not deemed suspicious.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes to their destination.
