(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment has charged a 20-year-old male after police investigated a motor vehicle collision at a West Quarter Line Road, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Sunday, February 21, 2016 at approximately 8:49 p.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics were called to a motor vehicle collision.
Through the course of investigation it was determined that three (3) motor vehicles were observed racing down the roadway when one of the vehicles left the roadway, entered a ditch and rolled several times.
The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries however a 20-year-old passenger of Norfolk County, Ontario was air lifted to a London area hospital for pre-cautionary measures.
As a result of investigation, police have charged 20-year-old Johan Braun BRAUN of Norfolk County, Ontario with racing a motor vehicle and young driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero.
He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.
The investigation is continuing.
The OPP remind all motorists that there will be zero tolerance for motorists driving aggressively, impaired by drugs or alcohol, distracted drivers or those who fail to buckle up. Driving safety is everyone’s responsibility and it starts before the vehicle is put into “drive”, comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
