(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On August 5, 2016, shortly after 6:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male that was causing a disturbance and bothering tenants at a local business in the City of Elliot Lake. The male had passed out outside the business prior to police arrival.
As a result, Vishwanauth BALDEO, 44 years of age from Oshawa, Ontario, was arrested and charged with: Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.
The accused was lodged overnight until he returned to a sober state.
IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED
(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On August 6, 2016, shortly after 7:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a van that had crossed a parking lot and drove into an apartment building on Beckett Drive in the City of Elliot Lake.
The van had moved to another area of the parking lot prior to police arrival. The driver of the van called 911 to report a motor vehicle collision. When the driver met police to report the motor vehicle collision, the officers determined the driver had been consuming alcohol beverage when he drove his van into the building.
As a result of the investigation, Daniel WURSLUK, 50 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Care or Control While Impaired (Alcohol) contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and
Care or Control over 80 milligrams, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 6, 2016.
