(Tudor & Cashel, ON) – On November 18, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P utilized a police cruiser equipped with the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system to stop a driver identified to be displaying stolen licence plates while travelling on Highway #62 near Centre Millbridge Road in Tudor and Cashel Township.
Cameras mounted on the cruiser automatically scan licence plates which are checked against a database to see if the plates are expired or stolen or if the registered owner’s licence is suspended.
As a result of the traffic stop, the driver 37 year old Craig MCCOY of Madoc, ON was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property. He will appear in Ontario Court of Justice on December 18, 2014.
