(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Monday, November 17, 2014 at approximately 6:37 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue and Superior North EMS responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 61, north of Chippewa Road.
The driver of a Mazda was south bound on Highway 61 when the driver lost control and collided with a Ford truck that was north bound. The driver of the Ford truck was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by members of Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue.
Both drivers were transported to hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
Highway 61 was closed for approximately 1 ½ hours as officers investigated the collision.
