Collisions And Vehicle Fire

25 May 2015,

9:34 am police received a report of damage that had occurred to a vehicle on the 23rd of May at the Port Elgin beach parking area. The vehicle received a large scratch on the hood and windshield.

12.44 pm police assisted the Saugeen Shores Fire Service with a vehicle fire on Wellington St. No injuries.

5:00 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Goderich and Elgin St. A vehicle was south on Goderich St another vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Elgin at Goderich then proceeded and struck the south bound vehicle. The driver of the responsible vehicle was charged with Fail to Yield.

27 May 2015,

12:34 pm police assisted the Saugeen Shores Fire Service with a vehicle fire on Concession #2. No injuries.

2:35 pm police received a report of a motor vehicle collision that had occurred earlier in the day in the Petro Can parking lot. A vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the lot. No injuries.

28 May 2015,

Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Falconer St. A vehicle was parked on the street and a person backing from a laneway struck the parked vehicle. No injuries.

10:41 pm police conducted RIDE in Port Elgin, no offenders.

29 May 2015,

5:23 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Concession 8 E. A vehicle was east bound and swerved for two deer on the road. The vehicle lost control and struck a wooden sign and fence. No injuries.

12:54 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision in a private parking lot. One vehicle was pulling into the parking lot and another was backing from a parking space. No injuries.

11:40 pm police responded to a report from a passerby who observed two males pulling a stop sign out of the ground at Mill and Bruce. Each summer I put a request out to those who would do this type of thing and just ask them to think of the consequences. Even those who drive the street may not remember or be triggered to stop and someone could be hurt in a collision. Think.

30 May 2015,

1:16 am a Saugeen Shores Police officer was pulling from the parking lot on the west side of Goderich St to attend an alarm at the UPI Gas bar on the east side of the street. The cruiser struck a vehicle being operated north bound in the center lane of Goderich St. No injuries. The officer was charged with Failing to Yield from a Private Drive contrary to section 139(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

9:10 am police responded to a single vehicle collision on Cemetery Road. No one was around the pick-up truck that had struck a tree head on. The driver left the scene not reporting the collision. After investigation the driver of the vehicle was identified and charged with Failing to Remain under the Highway Traffic Act.

Community Watch had its monthly meeting Tuesday 2 June at the police office. Five new potential members were in attendance. This group is a terrific group of volunteers that contribute a lot to our community to help keep it safe. These patrolling members are extra eyes and ears for the police service.
