(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Thursday, August 22, at approximately 10:13 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver travelling southbound on Hwy. 6, north of Williamsford in the Township of Chatsworth. Information was received that the suspect vehicle, a Dodge Caravan, had cut off another motorist, was travelling at high speeds and swerving on the road.
Police equipped with a radar, stopped the suspect vehicle which had registered a speed of 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone, on Hwy. 6 near Grey Road 12 in West Grey. The driver was found to have been drinking. He was transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment where he refused to provide a sample of his breath.
Cody James MEYERS, 25, of Kitchener, Ontario was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle; fail to provide breath sample and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code. He was also charged with speeding under the Highway Traffic Act and having liquor readily available under the Liquor Licence Act.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on September 12, 2013.
