(GEORGIAN BAY, TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday October 23, 2016 at approximately 10:43 a.m., an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 400 in Tay Township, ON. The officer observed the driver of a Dodge Durango travelling at a high rate of speed and determined the speed to be 174 km/hr. in a 100km/hr. zone.
As a result of the traffic stop, the male driver Clinton James COWLEY (age 38) of England – United Kingdom has been charged with:
Race a motor vehicle – stunt driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Speeding 50 + km/h over posted limit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The 2016 Dodge Durango rental vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 1, 2016 in Penetanguishene, ON.
