Carl LAPENSÉE – Drunk Driving

(Hawkesbury, ON) – In the early morning of Sunday January 12th, 2014, at approximately 3:40 am, Hawkesbury OPP officers were patrolling the Town of Hawkesbury when they intercepted a Mazda Protégé 2001 for a verification.

The traffic stop gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol. Further investigation revealed that the driver had blood alcohol content over the permitted limit.

The driver was consequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood.

During the arrest, the driver was found in possession of marijuana. Also the driver had a G2 driver’s licence where no alcohol in the blood is permitted while driving.

Furthermore, the driver had no proof that the vehicle was insured.

Consequently, the driver Carl LAPENSÉE (23 yrs) of Hamilton Street in Hawkesbury was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) – Blood Alcohol Content Exceed 80 Milligrams.

He was charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section 4(1) Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams.

He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with section 6(1)(1) for Class G2 licence holder – B.A.C. above zero.

Lastly, he was charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with section 3(1) Fail to have insurance card.

His vehicle was seized for 7 days and his driver’s licence immediately suspended for 90 days.

He was later released on a promise to appear in court on January 29th, 2014 in L’Orignal.
