Brendan MCCLELLAN – Drunk Driving, Drive While Suspended

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 29, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Hillside Drive South in the City of Elliot Lake.

At 10:10 p.m. police observed a vehicle enter the R.I.D.E. program. While police were speaking with the male driver, the officer determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. As a result of the investigation, police located open liquor in the vehicle and the driver was also found to be suspended in Ontario.

Brendan MCCLELLAN, 30 years of age from the Township of the North Shore, Ontario, was charged with:

Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;

Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act; and

Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to section 32 of the Liquor Licence Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 5, 2016.
